Press Release
Oregon University System Signs Multi-Service Agreement With National
Student Clearinghouse
HERNDON, VA, February 26, 2004 - The National Student Clearinghouse, the
nation's largest, most trusted source for post-secondary student degree and
enrollment verification services, announced today that the Oregon University
System (OUS) has signed an agreement to participate in all of the
Clearinghouse's services. The OUS consists of seven public universities with a
system wide enrollment of 78,000 students.
As part of its agreement with the Clearinghouse, all OUS institutions
will participate in:
- DegreeVerify: Nationwide, the Clearinghouse provides degree
verification services at no charge to 750 participating colleges and
universities. On average, schools complete 1,000 degree verifications
per year for every 5,000 enrolled students. DegreeVerify frees registrar
office staff to work on more critical tasks instead of handling degree
verification requests by fax, phone and e-mail from employers,
background search firms and recruiters. Launched two years ago,
DegreeVerify is the largest single source of degree data, and contains
information on more than 40% of all degrees awarded in the US. The
Clearinghouse expects the service to provide accessibility to half of
all degrees ever issued by next summer.
- EnrollmentVerify: More than 2,700 post-secondary institutions - representing 91% of the nation's
enrollment - outsource their enrollment verification to the
Clearinghouse. There is no cost to colleges to participate in
EnrollmentVerify, which processes enrollment verification inquiries from
student loan providers, employers and providers of student-based
services, such as health insurers, credit grantors, travel companies,
and others.
- EnrollmentSearch: By subscribing to EnrollmentSearch, schools
can query our database of 60 million post-secondary enrollment and
degree records to assess student acquisition and retention performance.
They can also obtain up-to-date enrollment and degree data for
prospective, current and former students.
